Spring is here and it’s the perfect time to get outdoors and enjoy some great weather. With school holidays around the corner as well, there are plenty of events being organised for children, and here are some of the events that you could sign your kids up for.
Ice Skating at Garden Place
With the beginning of school holidays, the ice skate tour is coming to Hamilton, at the Garden Place from 10th to 14th of October.
This could be a fun activity to do together as a family as well.
Make sure to get all of the required safety gear at the counter along with your tickets before you get in there.
Tickets are available at different prices for both children as well as adults.
Supervised programmes at the Waikato museum
There are plenty of supervised programmes being organised at the Waikato museum for children between the age of 7-13 years.
They have moggy Mondays for artistic delights based on favourite animals, toons on Tuesdays to unleash your cartooning skills, crack the code Wednesdays to travel through the past, present and future and solving hidden cues, Harry’s Halloween, and more.
For the week after that, they have a Hamilton history day, to explore Hamilton’s history through photographs, Fantastic Printastic – to learn and practice printing skills, The Dig, for the archaeological lovers, Toymaker’s workshop to build things, and jingle your bells, for a special and early Christmas at the museum. You can make your artistic tree decorations and gifts in plenty of time for the festive season.
The Whizz Bang Science is organising the ‘unbelieve-a-bubble science’ show at the Hamilton gardens during school holidays.
The show is all about bubbles, how they are made, what goes into making them well and lots of questions. You can explore rubber bubbles, bubbles in a bubble or even see a bubble on fire! The show is great for all age groups, be in a kid, or a grandmum.
The show is tailored for primary age groups with fire and noises, so you have to make sure that there are enough adults around to keep things safe.
Animates Te Rapa
Kids love dogs and dogs love kids! This event is a great way to entertain your kids and teach them how to behave and interact with dogs.
The free event is on the 4th and 11th of October, with two sessions both days.
No bookings are required to attend the event.
Children’s Discovery Trail
The Hamilton Gardens Discovery Trail is for children to explore a world of enchantment and specially themed gardens.
There are magical stories and portals through time to far flung corners of the world, behind every door. Lush tropical gardens, mystical ancient China or Renaissance Prince’s 16th century.
You could even download the free discovery trail sheet from the Hamilton Garden’s website to see where the bees, hens and woodland creatures are hiding.
Church on Sunday
You can bring your children to church on Sunday mornings at Grace Evangelical Church in Hamilton. Church services are at 10am held at Bankwood Primary School. Anyone is welcome to attend and there is a children’s programme for primary aged children.
